obj file formats are rather common and by many regarded as the ‘go-to’ default 3d file format that works well in many different 3d programs. There are of course many other file formats out there. On those sites you will typically encounter these 3d file formats. My four favorite resources for free models are Sketchfab, CGTrader, Renderosity, and Model Haven. It’s worth noting that rigged figures sometimes have issues moving between programs, so don’t be surprised to fine the bones of a rigged model have “exploded” and the model needs to be rigged in the program you want to work in.
